Project Scope

Design and produce a line of minimalistic packaging for a variety of products from a luxury baby collection manufactured in China.

Snugabye is a minimalistic and modern baby clothing brand that caters to expecting moms. As a packaging designer, I was asked to design a premium looking packaging line that would showcase each product in a clean and minimalistic style.

All packaging must include full scale dielines, graphics and assembly instructions for Chinese manufacturers to follow. I also had to submit my packaging specs and products from their collection for fiber content testing and copyright approval before moving into production.

I had 12 weeks to design and test packaging then 8 weeks to produce all the packaging in China.

Process + Deliverables

Througout the design and production process, I teamed up with the Art Director, Production Team and Chinese manufacturers to ensure this packaging met Canadian and USA packaging labelling standards.

Throughout the design process, I collaborated with the Art Director, Sourcing Team, Production Team, and internal stakeholders. By consulting with many internal teams, I was able to create a branded, textured paper packaging collection that met Canadian and USA packaging laws while making it easy for Chinese manufacturers to produce and pack.

The sourcing team was able to connect me with packaging manufacturers who specialized in high-end finishes at an affordable cost. While the Production team kept manufacturers on track for ship date.

The Dream

Collection Packaging

The packaging collection included hangtags, hanger stickers, care labels, and rigid boxes wrapped in a matte textured paper. To create a minimalistic aesthetic, some boxes included an acetate lid and magnetic closures.

The packaging was done in a textured matte paper that was 20 lbs. We designed heeltabs for socks, header cards with hooks for bibs, and rigid boxes with magnetic closures for a premium finish. After launching this collection in several premium retail stores, the packaging made this collection standout as a luxury item that was popular for baby showers and expecting moms.
